Private Ambulance for CT and MRI Scans in Brașov — Patient Transport
Why the journey to an imaging scan matters
CT (computed tomography) and MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scans are often essential for reaching an accurate diagnosis or monitoring how a condition is progressing. The problem arises when a patient cannot travel independently — whether they are bedridden, have limited mobility, are recovering from surgery, or require supplemental oxygen during transit.
A regular taxi or a family car may seem like simple solutions, but they lack the proper conditions for such a patient. An inappropriate transfer can worsen pain, create a risk of falls, or compromise the patient's clinical status. That is precisely why private medical transport in a properly equipped ambulance is the right choice.
Important: If you are facing a medical emergency, call 112 — a free public service, available 24/7. NucleusMED provides private, scheduled, paid medical transport — not emergency response.
Who needs a private ambulance for CT or MRI scans
Any patient who cannot travel safely by conventional means can benefit from this service. The most common situations include:
- Bedridden patients — who require stretcher or wheelchair transport
- Elderly patients with balance issues, osteoporosis, or dementia
- Post-operative patients — recovering from orthopaedic, abdominal, or neurological surgery in the first weeks of rehabilitation
- Patients with neurological conditions — stroke, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis
- Oncology patients — weakened by chemotherapy or radiotherapy
- Patients with respiratory insufficiency who need supplemental oxygen during transport
- Bariatric patients for whom access to standard vehicles is difficult
What NucleusMED's imaging transport service includes
NucleusMED provides door-to-door transport — our crew comes directly to the patient's home, assists with boarding, drives to the imaging centre, and accompanies the patient to the scan room; on the return journey, the patient is brought back home or to the originating medical facility.
Fleet and equipment
NucleusMED vehicles are Mercedes-Benz ambulances equipped for medical transport: a certified stretcher, access ramps, monitoring equipment, and — where required — an oxygen supply. All vehicles are authorised by DSP Brașov (the County Public Health Directorate) and hold a valid ANMDMR (Romanian National Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices) licence in accordance with current legislation.
Trained crew
Our crews are trained in first aid and in the safe mobilisation of patients with reduced mobility. For cases requiring additional medical supervision, you can request assisted medical transport — with a qualified medical assistant or paramedic on board.
Assisted vs. non-assisted transport
- Non-assisted transport: the patient is stable and does not require medical monitoring en route; the crew ensures safe mobilisation and transit
- Assisted transport: the patient needs vital-sign monitoring, supplemental oxygen, or other minor medical intervention during the journey; a qualified medical assistant is part of the crew
Discuss the appropriate option with our operator when making your booking. See the Services page for full details.
How the transport works — step by step
- Contact NucleusMED — by phone at +40 758 409 100 or via the website form, at least 24–48 hours before the scan
- Provide the necessary details: the patient's condition, pick-up address, clinic/hospital where the scan is scheduled, appointment time, whether a stretcher or wheelchair is needed, and whether supplemental oxygen is required
- Booking confirmation — you will receive a confirmation with the crew's estimated arrival time
- Scan day — the crew arrives on time, mobilises the patient, transports them safely, and — if requested — waits during the scan to bring the patient back home
What to prepare before transport
- Medical documents: referral letter, previous results, medication list
- Doctor's instructions: whether the patient must fast, pause certain medications, or take pre-medication
- Personal items: comfortable clothing or pyjamas, water, emergency medication
- A companion: not mandatory, but a family member's presence can reassure the patient and help logistically
